Welcome to the TalkPhysics community
If you’re a teacher of physics (specialist or non-specialist), technician, or supporter of teachers and technicians, you’re in the right place.

TalkPhysics is a place for all those involved in the teaching of pre-19 physics to share ideas, hear about CPD events, network, get advice, and talk physics. Most of our content is hidden behind a login, which means your conversations can’t be accessed by anyone who isn’t a vetted member of the site.

The History of TalkPhysics
TalkPhysics was launched in 2009 by the Institute of Physics, with support provided by the Stimulating Physics Network.

In 2016 we made some significant changes to the site. Our core offering – discussion forums for advice, ideas, resources, and networking – remains securely behind a login. A new section on teacher-focussed CPD events has been added. You should also notice an improved search and increased site speed. These changes are designed to help you to get on with what really matters: the teaching and learning of physics.

One of the Institute’s goals is to make access to high-quality physics education available to all. The Institute has had decades of experience in supporting those involved in teaching physics.

About the Institute of Physics
The Institute of Physics is a leading scientific membership society working to advance physics for the benefit of all. We have a worldwide membership from enthusiastic amateurs to those at the top of their fields in academia, business, education and government.

Our purpose is to gather, inspire, guide, represent and celebrate all who share a passion for physics. And, in our role as a charity, we’re here to ensure that physics delivers on its exceptional potential to benefit society. Alongside professional support for our members, we engage with policymakers and the public to increase awareness and understanding of the value that physics holds for all of us.

Our subsidiary company, IOP Publishing, is a world leader in scientific communications, publishing journals, ebooks, magazines and websites globally.
