The SW Branch of the IOP are proud to announce that the Exeter Festival of Physics will take place on the 6th November at the University of Exeter Forum Centre. This is a whole-day event particularly for school students who are studying for qualifications in Physics, their friends and families, but also for people of all ages who are interested in Physics, including members of the Institute of Physics. Our objective is to inspire and enthrall, showing young people the joy of physics and highlighting the fascinating career opportunities that may be available if they study physics at school and university

We have three motivational speakers:

Professor Sir Roy Sambles FRS HFInstP on “The Wonder of Light”

Dr Natasha Stephen on “Winchcombe: the first UK meteorite in 30 years”

Dr Heidi Thiemann on “Launching Cornwall into Space”

Additionally there will be a series of workshops running throughout the day plus a whole series of exhibition and demonstration stands showing how physics is part of our everyday lives.

If you are a teacher and think this event will be of interest to your students, please recommend it. Bookings can be made at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/festival-of-physics-tickets-170412145314?aff=ebdssbdestsearch.
