This session for the post 16 Energy topic will look exclusively at the energy associated with fields. It will explore concepts of ‘potential’ and ‘potential difference’ in detail and seek to explain the relationship between force and energy which comes into the curriculum for the first time at post16.
This session is paired with the session from the North West team which will look at other aspects of energy in the post 16 curriculum. You are therefore very welcome to attend both sessions if you wish.
This online CPD session is part of the IOP’s DOMAINS programme and is aimed at teachers of key stage five. This is a great opportunity to network with others in Yorkshire and the North East who are currently teaching physics to those ages 16+.
The focus of this session will be ways of teaching energy, including reflecting on the new IOP DOMAINS energy videos available here. We would encourage you to watch some of these videos before the session.
Please feel free share any questions you have during the session, or email the coach prior to the session starting, contact details can be found below.
Who is this event suitable for?
This event is for all teachers of physics and will cover key areas within the physics curriculum. The session will be based on the new IOP DOMAINS energy videos. Experienced IOP coaches will host the session and will be there to expand on the content, answer your questions and provide support.
This is a regional event. We welcome colleagues from other regions, but priority will be given to colleagues from this region.
