Cognitive Load Theory and Effective Learning Strategies
In recent times there has been a lot of evidence based research into how our brains learn. Using Cognitive Science we can help our students to become more effective and independent learners. In this workshop we will explore the findings of educational research on Cognitive Load Theory and their implications to the learning of physics. We will also consider and propose a series of strategies and tools that could be used in the classroom and for remote learning. These will take into account ideas from the theory and its evidence.
We will be joined by Alessio Bernardelli, Founding Director of collaborated.org.uk – Collaboration in Education and an IOP Coach with the Professional Practice Group.
Please note this Continuous Professional Development session will be of 1 hour duration
This workshop is suitable for all Science Teachers both Junior and Leaving Certificate.
