In this this event exploring the use of language in physics and science the strange language we have dubbed ‘SQA Speak’ will be discussed by IOP Scotland Physics Coaches who have also had extensive experience working in various capacities for SQA. What are the things that pupils commonly write in SQA assessments that are likely to cause them to lose marks due to their poor use of language rather than their understanding of the physics? Good communication is at the core of teaching and the use of language is absolutely central to this, in this event good, accurate use of language in physics in general will be discussed but also examples of some of the things teachers can do to assist their pupils maximise their marks in SQA assessments.
