Are you new, or fairly new, to teaching in Scotland? Would you like some ideas and coaching to get you through your courses? Have you got a question that you’re too embarrassed to ask someone in your own school? (We’re sure we’ve already asked it!) Do you want to know what resources are out there? Last year the IOP Scotland Physics Coaches ran a successful set of recorded sessions on the topics likely to be important to all probationers teaching the Sciences, and these are available online at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL534dw7_9uf434LzpiVgIMn7xZJoD_TUn (YouTube Playlist). Links to recordings of other sessions can be accessed through the IOP Scotland Online CLPL Group on TalkPhysics https://www.talkphysics.org/groups/iop-scotland-online-clpl/.
As these are still available online we thought this year would be more of a chat and share session. We are also available for you to try out some of your ideas and discuss Health and Safety considerations for example. We may take a theme for subsequent sessions but the first one will be an open forum for you to ask questions, meet your IOP Scotland Physics Coaches and plan the next sessions. If possible it would be great if you watched the first session from last year prior to the meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4U7HF4Xgto
If you have anything you specifically would like to ask already you can email Jennie Hargreaves, IOP Scotland Physics Coach, at [email protected] and that allows us thinking and prep time.
