This online training session for Virtual Physics Laboratory (VPLab) is intended mainly for teachers in Wales but would also be a useful introduction to any colleague in the UK or Ireland who delivers physics to students aged 11 to 18 years.
VPLab is a (Windows OS based) suite of over 400 interactive simulations / experiments developed by Dr John Nunn of the National Physics Laboratory. (see www.vplab.co.uk for more details) The latest release of the software now has a dedicated section of sims which match the specified practicals for WJEC A level.
The session, in which we will also signpost which sims are suitable matches for the WJEC GCSE specified practicals, will be conducted by IOP coaches from Wales, with a guest appearance from Dr Nunn himself.
Session attendees will receive access to the VPLab software suite, free of charge, to use in schools.
VPLab is a valuable resource for use in the classroom, installed on your school machines/network. However, during the current pandemic restrictions, Dr Nunn has kindly agreed to make available, on request, any of the simulations you require, which enables the teacher to make individual simulations available for download by (or to be emailed to) students at home to be able to work remotely from the school. The downloaded simulations will run for 7 days.
Our session will be delivered on GoToMeeting. Meeting details will be sent to you on the day before the session. Enquiries welcome to [email protected]
