The IOP has been closely monitoring the evolution of risks associated with Covid-19 (also known as Coronavirus) both domestically and internationally.

People’s health and wellbeing is our number one priority, including visitors to our events across the UK and Ireland. We also want to play our part in helping to slow the spread of the virus.

In light of recent developments, the IOP has taken the decision to cancel all face to face events until the end of May, including this event. We are investigating the option of providing some workshops remotely on the day and will be in touch as soon as we have some more information.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

This session will look at refraction and how it is used in lenses to direct light where needed. It will then look at both convex and concave lenses, and how images are formed in different situations. Ray diagrams are used to make predictions about the image, so they will be explored, as will the uses of lenses of both type. The session will involve a mixture of practical demonstration and hands on practical sessions which would be usable in your own classroom.
This workshop is suitable for all teachers of physics.
Refreshments will be available on arrival.

This event has now been cancelled due to safety concerns around the COVID19 virus.
I will aim to reschedule later in the year.
