The workshop will be a make-and-take, where you will build your own compressed air ‘rocket’ launcher, capable of firing projectiles over 100 metres, which you can take home with you for free.
Through modifications such as adding fins or altering the shape of the nose cone, students can theorise and then try out how a rocket’s flight path can be affected. Air pressure and angle of launch can also be altered, so you can use the compressed air launcher to teach topics such as pressure and projectile motion, or simply to engage students with the design of the rockets. Great for Science Week and Science clubs too!
Please come to reception to sign in upon arrival. I will collect you from reception and take you to the lab, where the workshop will take place. Please note that the school day ends at 4.00pm, and so the car park can be rather full at this time of day – if you are able to arrive earlier, it will make parking easier.
Refreshments will be provided – I do try to get something for everyone, so if you have a particular request, do let me know (especially if you are gluten intolerant, for example – otherwise it will mainly be cake and biscuits!)
