Scarborough Area Physics Teaching workshop – ENERGY

Event Information

13 February 2019
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Event categories:

This event is a FREE workshop for any teachers of Science in the Scarborough area.
This session will focus on developing teacher confidence with teaching ENERGY concepts – at KS3, KS4 and KS5 – using the ‘stores and transfers’ approach reflecting the current National Curriculum and exam specification documents.

There will be an opportunity to discuss and try some energy demonstrations and practicals. The UTC can also act as a ‘lending library’ for practical equipment e.g. light gates, temperature probes, dataloggers – so come along to have a go.

This workshop is the third of a series of workshops throughout the year covering topics that have been requested – Electricity, Forces, Energy (stores and transfers), Electromagnetism etc.

This workshop will run as a ‘drop-in’ session from 4pm, with the main workshop taking place between 4.30-5.30.
This allows a ‘soft start’ as people arrive from 4pm, with plenty of things to look at and do from 4.00-4.30. After the main session finishes at 5.30pm, activities/discussion can continue until 6pm for those who are able to stay.
