Event Information

19 June 2018
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Event categories:

In association with the Institute of Physics, Totnes Progressive School is running a series of Stimulating Physics Network meetings. These free CPD sessions are open to teachers of Key Stages 3, 4 & 5 – and to science technicians too. Refreshments available from 16:30.

This session will look at how we can use space as a context to excite and engage students about a wide range of physics topics; it explores ideas about ray optics and telescopes, current developments in satellite technology and launch vehicles – and how the InSight mission will be using seismology to probe the structure of Mars! The session will include lots of demonstrations and practical tasks, using standard lab equipment and everyday items. There are some fantastic free simulations and software to illustrate tricky concepts, free worksheets and activities, and ideas for making high impact demonstration equipment!
