Event Information

2 July 2018
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Event categories:

Our brains are inundated with vast amounts of information every second. In order to make quick decisions our brain unconsciously takes shortcuts. As you make decisions, how aware are you of these shortcuts, and how would you know if your choices were biased?
This event will introduce and review the concept of unconscious bias, and consider how it can affect us. We will investigate our own biases, show that everyone carries biases, and discuss how unconscious biases have an impact in schools. The event will also explore strategies and approaches for working to reduce the impact of unconscious biases.
This free twilight training session is aimed at:
– Primary and secondary school teachers
– Interested sixth form students
The training will consist of presentations, activities and group discussions so come prepared to get involved.
